The election conducted in the presidential pattern on 15 December 2006 brought to the limelight the following office bearers.

College Union and Arts Club activities were jointly inaugurated by Prof. P.J. Roy, Principal, St.Paul’- College, Kalamassery and Raji Menon, Cine Artist respectively on December 2007. A talent seeking programme was organized for the new comers in the beginning of the academic year. Cultural and literary competitions were conducted in connection with arts festival, held on 10 and 11 October. Principal’s feast was celebrated on 1 August 2007. Christmas and Onam were celebrated with befitting activities.

National Service Scheme



Two N. S. S. units function in the college with more than 200 volunteers under the guidance of Mrs. Thresiakutty K.M.  and Mrs. Cicily P.J. as programme officers. Rev. Fr. Alex Chalangady, Principal, De Paul Institute of Science and Technology, inaugrated the activities of the N. S. S. units on 10 August 2007.

A ten-day camp, two mini camps, several one - day camps, and celebration of world wide important days were held during the year. Regular programs like campus cleaning, visit to the villages, health awareness seminars, survey, job training programs etc. were also organized. The volunteers participated in various university level and intercollegiate training programs and workshops. 
Smt. Cicily P.J., Programme Officer, participated in the national level Programme Officer’s camp held at Sri Perumputhoor, Karnataka from 12-18 December 2007.The Red Ribbon Club was formed in the college to give publicity and awareness on AIDS, blood donation and other socially important issues.

Sports and Games


This was yet another year of memorable achievement in sports and games. The shining stars of Morning Star continued their winning streak in Yoga in the M.G. University Yoga Championship held at St. Thomas College, Kozhenchery. This is a stunning hattrick win. Three of our team members, Miss Jismi M. Ismail, Miss Fathima K.M. and Miss Janey Rosey V.J., were selected to M. G. University Yoga team.  We have the pleasure of winning one silver and three bronze medals in the M.G. University Judo championship held at St. George College, Aruvithura.  Our team won 3 gold medals, 1 silver and 3 bronze medal in the District Judo Championship. In the State Championship they won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.

Kanan Devan Nature Club

Kanan Devan Nature Club of our college conducted a colorful Athapookalam contest in connection with Onam celebrations. This was conducted on 17 August 2007. Eight teams participated in the contest. Tata tea offered a cash award of Rs. 5000/- to the prize winning teams.

 AICUF

The unit started functioning in our institution in the year 2004. Various programmes are organized under AICUF for the intellectual and spiritual Development of students. Visits to orphanages and old age homes and activities of kindness to inmates, value education and personality development classes, service to downtrodden sections in the society, organized in collaboration with other institutions and agencies are major activities

Youth Red Cross Unit

This unit started functioning in the year 2005. A seminar on blood donation and awareness class on ‘Chikungunya ‘were conducted for the people of the locality. World anti Narcotic day was observed by organizing rally to make the public aware of the harmful effects of the use of alcohol, panmasala, opium, chewing gum etc. The unit also organized campaign against plastic and we now have a plastic free campus.

Women’s Cell-SREYAS

An active women’s cell is functioning in our college. It thrives to enrich our woman folk by upholding the dignity and protecting the rights of women. It organizes various awareness programs for the students.

Career Guidance Cell

Under the career guidance cell the following initiatives were undertaken. In the recruitment drive for B.Sc students to Wipro Technologies, two students were selected. Besides this two-day awareness program on woman empowerment and personality development and study trip to Shahrudaya Silk Centre were conducted. Recruitment is slowly entering the conventional campuses. The tie-ups with companies for in- plant- training help maintain contacts and students benefit. Recently few of our students were selected as trainees in the company were they did their in-plant-training.

Entrepreneurship Development Club

Started functioning in the year 2007 in collaboration with District Industries Centre, in order to give training in entrepreneurship and management of business related activities . Seminars on the various aspects of entrepreneurship was arranged with the help of eminent entrepreneurs for the final year students, who are the members of the club.

FILCOS

All under graduate students are members of FILCOS (A Forum for Improving Language, Communication and Oratory Skills). Training with the help of audio-visual technological aids to improve language as well as personality skills are provided on a regular basis by arranging one session each for all the batches every week.
